Calvin “Cal” Lloyd Love Jr., 65, of Rosemount, formerly of Eagan and Philadelphia, PA area, died on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at HealthPartners Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN due to unexpected health complications. He was born on March 29, 1955 to Calvin and Alma Jean (Turner) Love. He married Doretta Gibson on April 15, 1978 at First African Baptist Church in Sharon Hill, PA.

Cal graduated from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA in 1974. He attended RCA Technical Institute where he earned a diploma in computer engineering technology in 1975. In 1996, he also took courses for IT certifications at St. Mary’s University of MN. Calvin worked in several Information Technology positions over a span of more than four decades, most recently as a Technical Resources Specialist at GetWireless. Due to his love for Ham radio, he was involved with the American Radio Relay League and O.M. International Sideband Society. Cal enjoyed computers, science and technology, science fiction, football, basketball, and playing with R/C cars and drones with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Doretta; children, Calvin Love, III of Saint Paul, MN and Christopher Love of Rosemount, MN; grandchildren, Jayden Schulz, Dominic Love, and Charlotte Love; mother of Charlotte, Melinda Love; siblings, Kathy Love-Moore; brothers-in-law, Gregory Moore and Frederick Peterson; sisters-in-law, Wilma Peterson and Beverly Barton; nephews, Donald, Joseph. Jr and Ernest Barton, Brian Barton, Derrick and Tony Baily; as well as several great nieces, nephews, and many cousins, all beloved.

Public visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 21 at Mueller Memorial in St. Paul, 835 Johnson Parkway. Private family service held.
