Daisy Lilly Brown, formerly of Little Canada, MN, peacefully passed away on May 25, 2019 in St. Paul, MN. Ms. Brown was born in Meridian, MS on November 8, 1926 and lived for 921/2 years. In Meridian, MS, Ms. Brown was surrounded by the love of her parents, Joel Anthony Beal and Marceline Edna Nolan, and her great Aunt, Alice Nolan. Upon her grandfather’s death, the family was blessed to inherit a number of properties and businesses, as her grandfather was a successful entrepreneur in Meridian. Ms. Brown wanted for nothing, anything she wanted, as a child and young woman, she received. After completing her education in Meridian, MS at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and later at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA, Ms. Brown married John Leslie Brown Sr., also of Meridian, MS, and migrated to Minnesota, living first in St. Paul, MN and later in Little Canada, MN. Together, the couple reared three children, John Leslie Brown Jr, Alice Kathleen Brown Gueno, and Joel Edward Brown and made a lifetime of memories in Minnesota. In St. Paul, the family attended St. Peter Claver Church and in Little Canada, Ms. Brown attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Ms. Brown was very religious and oftentimes, especially during Lent and Advent, her young children would gather around her and say The Rosary. Ms. Brown loved being a homemaker, a hostess of family gatherings, and was skilled in making all types of needlework. Ms. Brown was also active in several organizations. She was a Columbian Lady, the auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus, and an Opti Mrs. which was an auxiliary of the Optimist Club. Ms. Brown also attended classes at St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul. Ms. Brown also had a successful career at Eastern Heights State Bank, 3M Branch, retiring after nearly seventeen years. She loved her job so much she would arrive an hour early to prepare for the day and chat with her colleagues. During her lifetime, Ms. Brown loved to read and to travel. She visited many mainland states in the US and traveled to Mexico, Turkey, France, the Caribbean, Morocco, North Africa and Hawaii. If you asked Ms. Brown any trivia question, she would know the answer as her knowledge of practically everything was so vast. As Ms. Brown’s health declined, she was blessed to reside at the Cerenity Care Center-Marian of St. Paul, where she received exceptional care from the nurses, aides and staff. Ms. Brown is survived by her three children, John Leslie Brown, Jr., Alice Kathleen Brown Gueno, Joel Edward Brown (Rebecca), and Bettye Brown, sister in law; brother in law, Melvin Brown three grandchildren, Leslie Cheree Gueno, John L. Brown III (Jessica), Theodore Brown, and three great grandchildren, Ari Brown, Jamie Cherie Rodriguez Gueno and Judah Charles Rodriguez Gueno. Ms. Brown is also survived by a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Joel Jr., Charles, son in law, and former husband John L. Brown Sr.
