Obituary for Daniel Patrick Lambie

Daniel "Dan" Lambie, age 74 of White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Peace Hospice Residence in St. Paul on July 2, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. Dan was born in Milwaukee, WI on August 2nd, 1944. He grew up in Superior and graduated from Central High School in the class of 1963. Dan was in the Air Force from 1963-1967, serving in the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he moved to Minnesota where he met his wife, Judy. They were married in 1968.

Dan worked briefly at Reynolds Metal plant in White Bear Lake before joining the MN Laborers Union and beginning his work in construction. Dan was a cement and brick laborer for most of his life, until a major back injury. After his recovering from surgery, he began his most rewarding career, working with people with disabilities, especially autism. He had the patience and love to help many people and truly enjoyed and loved his clients. It was his passion.

When Judy had heart surgery in 2010, Dan retired early to care for her. Judy passed away suddenly in March 2011. Dan missed her dearly and was never the same after that. His lectures, opinionated conversations and gift for gab slowly became silenced as depression and grief got its hold on him. In March 2019, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and in June, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

Dan was a true Green Bay Packers fan. He loved his stereo equipment and LP records. Dan enjoyed reading true murder mysteries, Sci-Fi and nonfiction books. He loved all the Star Trek series, caring for his lawn and most of all, his many cats he had over the years.

Dan is survived by stepdaughter, Cheyenne Dailey (Brenda Reaney); grandchildren, Ken Dailey (Joe Jarrard) and Sarah French (Jason); great grandchildren, Samantha, Max and Cora; sister, Eleanor Hartshorn (Bob); brothers, Jack (Sharon) and Bill (Roberta); and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by wife, Judy; sisters, Shandra Mangan, Ildred Shepard and Cheryl Larranaga.
