Hank was born to Ester (Soderlund) and Leonard Carter on April 14, 1927 in Duluth, Minnesota. He was joined by brothers, Bob and Charles and sisters, Lois, Marge and Lucille. As a young man, he enjoyed boxing, hockey and working the ore boats on Lake Superior. Hank loved golfing with all of his buddies which was an important part of his life. He also enjoyed fishing and going to the cabins (Cotton and Brainerd, Minnesota) especially with his brother, Chuck. Hank had a great love of history, particularly about the Civil War and Ancient Rome.
Hank married his second wife, Betty, in 1981 and they lived in White Bear Lake. Hank and Betty enjoyed their time with the American Legion where Betty served as an officer. They moved to Cerenity Senior Living in White Bear Lake in 2019 where they met new friends and received caring support.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Lalonde); brother, Charles; children, Wayne (Mary), Paul and Kristine (Jim); grandchildren, Matt, Sam, Ben, Andy, Tyler and Kyle. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on August 31st at 9:45am.
