Irene Rose Stroh Boe, 93 was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on October 29,1926 to Ambrose Stroh and Catherine Hecker. The oldest of 6 children. She attended grade school in a “one room school” in Emerson in Dunn Co. She graduated from school in Gladstone and went to Bussiness School in Fargo. Irene taught school for a few years before and after her marriage to Obert K Boe who she met on a train heading back to parents home in Killdeer.

Irene moved her family to Minneapolis, Mn after Obert finished refrigeration school and was employed in Eagen, MN. They purchased their first house in Eagen and lived there for 9 years and then moved to St Paul in 1962. Because of such a large family she went to work and retired in 1989 from the US Postal Service doing janitorial work for over 20 years. She made many friends and has outlived most if not all.

Gardening, travel, reading and word search was a pastime she enjoyed. Her back yard garden had beautiful rose, bright orange-red poppies, delphiniums, sunflowers, butterfly plants and add to the mix rhubarb & strawberries. Bible study and church was also very important to her. Attending meeting with the Germans from Russia was high on her list because she was so proud of German heritage. African violets, Christmas Cactus and Christmas amaryllis.

She had visited Mexico, took a cruise to the Bahamas, London, Germany, San Francisco, California, Utah, Las Vegas, Canada, New York City, Washington DC and much more.

She was a great cook and made the best from scratch pies. Food just tasted better when she made it expect for mixed vegetables with Lima beans. Every year at Christmas she made Fruit Cake, Kolache’s and Ula Kaka.

Irene was preceded in death by her children Kay A Bunde and Lawrence T Boe, her parents Ambrose and Kathleen Hecker, grandchild Terrnace Bunde, son-in-law Stephen Johnson her brothers James Casper Stroh, her sisters Theordora Sabrosky and Leona Gunsch.
Survived by Kathleen Molczan, Karen Johnson, Keith, Renee, Margaret and Mary. There are 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Our dear mother is be missed terribly. Goodnight Irene.
