Obituary for John Robert Baregi

John R. Baregi
Age 93 – Passed away peacefully on June 30, 2019.
John was a Marine veteran who proudly served our country during WWII. John was a lifelong resident of the Eastside. He had a real knack for striking up a conversation with anyone he'd meet.
He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events, (even if he didn't like the sport) and they could pick grandpa out of the crowd by the cap on his head.
He was an active member of the Men's Club at St. Patrick's Church and a member of the "Wednesday Crew." The crew consisted of retired men doing odd maintenance jobs around the Church grounds and taking a break with a beer and donuts! You could always find him flipping flapjacks at the pancake breakfast at Church. During the winter months he'd have a blast driving the snowplow at Church.
John was an avid gardener and loved to sit under the grapevine in the backyard with a glass of wine.
John’s family would like to say a special thank you to the HealthPartners hospice team for their loving care and to the staff at Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood for the kindness and care he received the last week of his life.
John is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Rose “Ro”; children, Ron (Teresa), Gary (Jo Ellen), Janet (Ed) Saros, Gina (Mike) Morelli, JoAnn (Rick Brizius), Tom, Mary Jo (Mark) Blair; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
