Age 25
Passed away on August 11, 2021. Preceded in death by grandparents Don & Veronica (nee Junker) Hill and Don Palumbo. Survived by parents Jeff & Theresa; brothers Tony & Alex; grandma Ethel Palumbo and others relatives & friends. John is a 2015 Graduate of Mahtomedi High School and he was a student at UW- River Falls. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, August 20th at 11:00 am at CHURCH OF ST. JUDE, 700 Mahtomedi Avenue, Mahtomedi. Visitation Thursday, August 19th from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm at MUELLER MEMORIAL, 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake and one hour before Mass on Friday at church. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, Bayport. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Minnesota Lyme Association (MNLyme.org). John was kind to everyone and ALWAYS had a smile on his face.

A few fond memories when thinking of Johnny:

Johnny loved playing chess, even way back in grade school when most other kids didn't understand the rules. We gave him a bit of a hard time for it in high school, but he enjoyed playing too much to care whether or not it was "cool".

In 10th grade, Johnny started a game vs. Hill-Murray on a field with a very short outfield fence. Johnny claimed there was "no way" he would give up a home run that day - you can guess what happened during the game. He never heard the end of it from the rest of the team.

Johnny liked to try to come up with witty nicknames for people - some were better than others. But he's the first person I remember calling me "Scotty with a K", a nickname that's stuck with me for years and that I'm still called today by some. He would always say it with a big grin and and a laugh.

We will always remember Johnny's wonderful ear to ear grin! His smile would erupt on his face after amazing football and baseball plays. When jokes and laughter would erupt from the group of guys, that grin was easily spotted with his height. The memory of his wide, infectious smile is comfort in our grief.
