Loray Carlsen Randall (age 82), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 4, 2021.

Loray was born August 12, 1938 in Pocatello, Idaho where she was placed in the loving arms of her adoptive parents, James Victor (Vic) Carlsen and Grace Loray Robinson Carlsen. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1956, and married Gary Leroy Randall on August 9, 1957. Following short stays in Alabama and California, they established their home in White Bear Lake, Minnesota where they raised their four children.

Once the children were grown, Loray returned to college and earned a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Spanish from Hamline University. She worked for Century College as coordinator for the foreign language lab, and traveled to Mexico and Spain where she nurtured her love of language learning. Her most joyous moments were celebrated by wearing her turquoise “happy dress” which she purchased in Mexico.

Loray was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings, including several years as an early-morning Seminary teacher, and as temple office scheduler from the time the Saint Paul Temple was dedicated in 2000 until her passing.

Family was of utmost importance to Loray. She and Gary traveled the country to attend blessings, baptisms, and birthday celebrations, even after her health made that a challenge. She remained further connected to her far-flung family through phone calls, birthday cards, emails, and special activities such as Grandma's Book Club.

In 1997 she became wheelchair-bound as a result of Multiple Sclerosis. Although quadriplegia robbed her of movement, her mind remained sharp and she used it to inspire others to overcome their own challenges with a well-placed thought or a kind word. Her devoted husband provided care for her in their home until an injury in 2010 rendered him unable to do so. Early in 2011 she moved from the family home in White Bear Lake to the Johanna Shores care center in Arden Hills and remained in their exemplary care for the rest of her life.

Loray is survived by her children Lisa (Dallas) Lauchner, Lesli Randall, Lynell Williams, and Craig (Carrie) Randall; 11 grandchildren: Jaime (Mike) Hauglid, Megan (Josh) Taylor, Hilary and Haleigh Lauchner; Christian, Carlton and Ellie Williams; Riley, Nathan, Lauren and Maren Randall; and four great-grandchildren: Liam and Orion Hauglid; and Eli and Alanna Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary, grandson Dallas Lee Lauchner, Jr., and parents Vic and Grace.

A visitation will be held Sunday, July 25, 5-7 p.m. at Mueller Memorial Funeral Home, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave, White Bear Lake MN. Services are scheduled for Monday, July 26 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2335 Edgerton St, Little Canada MN. They include a visitation from 10-10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Gardens in Mahtomedi. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
