Margaret Ruth Amundson passed away October 17, 2021, at the age of 81. Preceded in death by her husband James Amundson, parents Norwood and Ruth Canfield, and sister Claudia Olson. Survived by sons Scott (Shelly) Anderson of Evanston, IL, Craig (Yvonne) Anderson of St. Paul, Peter (Melissa) Anderson of White Bear Township; grandchildren, Will, Jack, Edward, Christopher, Emily, Cyrus, Charlie, Max; brother Richard (Joanne) Canfield and loving nieces and nephews and cousins, and Jim’s extended family. A graduate of Minneapolis Roosevelt High School class of ’58, she would become an RN from St. Barnabas Hospital School of Nursing, and she later received a BA in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. A “nurse first,” Margaret enjoyed a long career with the MN Department of Health, eventually retiring as Director of Survey and Compliance of Care Facilities. She shared her passion for her Catholic faith and nursing vocation by serving each of her communities as Parish Nurse and organist. Margaret and her family are grateful for the friendships she so cherished with friends in her adopted communities of Duluth, MN, Lake Nebagamon, WI, and Phoenix, AZ and more recently, her many close friends and neighbors at The Arbors in White Bear Lake. Margaret’s family is also grateful for the care she received at Saint Therese at St. Odilia Hospice Residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 4741 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake. Visitation one hour prior to service.
