Michael Louis Mader
May 7, 1956 - May 7, 2021

Michael Mader was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He attended St. Joseph High School in Kenosha and Hamline University in St. Paul, where he graduated with a degree in Economics. Basketball was an important part of his high school and college experience and led to lifelong friendships and stories retold.

He met Keri in 1980 and they were married eight months later at Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville. They raised two daughters, Megan and Kelsey, in their home in Minneapolis, and Michael was the beloved “Baboo” to his granddaughter, Lizzie.

Michael had a tremendous love of the outdoors. He was always planning his next hiking vacation to the mountains in order to capture the perfect sunrise photograph. Golfing and fishing with his dear friends brought him great joy. He also loved gardening and reading and was a proud lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers. He carried on his father’s legacy of carpentry, doing all of the finish work on a lake house and building furniture and accessories for his family.

Michael spent his career as a Certified Public Accountant, eventually establishing his own business, where he found much fulfillment in building meaningful relationships, both with his clients and his dedicated and cherished staff.

Preceded in death by parents, Edward & Stella Mader. Survived by wife, Keri, daughters Megan Mader and Kelsey (John) Bailey, granddaughter Elizabeth Bailey, siblings Sue (Tom) Stenstrom, Pat (Michael) Gottfredsen, Edward “Skip” (Jan) Mader, Judy (Harry) Welke, Mary Jane (Tim) DeCesaro, Tom “TJ” (Marianne) Mader, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic Church, 3333 Cliff Road E, Burnsville, with visitation an hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials preferred to the Glacier National Park Conservancy.
