Michael Joseph Malone Sr.
Age 81
Of Eastside St. Paul
Visitation 4-7PM on Monday, July 22 at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Pkwy., St. Paul.

Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 17th. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Stella Malone Sr.; Brothers, Robert Jr (Phyllis), Tom (Florence) and baby brother, Terry; Godchild, Megan Malone; nephews and niece, Tommy Johnson and Kevin and Shannon Malone; Son-in-law Orin Johnson; Best friend and cousin Jim Malone; In-laws, Ed and Ruth Scholl; Sister-in-law, Chris Goodwill

Mike is survived by the love of his life, wife, Joyce (Scholl); son, Mike Jr,; daughters, Peggy (Orin) Johnson and Krissy Cherry.

He is also survived by his 6 grandsons, who he adored, Jeremiah (Becky), Robert (Maggie) and Nathan Johnson. Alex, Andrew and Austin Cherry. And his 4 great-grandchildren: Brady & Logan (Jeremiah & Becky's) and Avery & Charlie (Robert & Maggie's).

Mike was born and raised on St. Paul's Eastside and spent most of his life there. Mike survived Polio as a child and went on to become a 3 sport star at Harding HIgh School. It's at Harding where he met his future wife, Joyce (Scholl). Once he saw Joyce he told his cousin Jim "That's the girl I'm going to marry". MIke and Joyce were about to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 25th.

Mike & Joyce raised their 3 kids on the eastside and in turn watched their daughters family grow up on the eastside.

If you ever enjoyed the beauty of the grounds at the Governor's mansion or the State Capitol you would be enjoying some of Mike's work over the years. Mike retired as a Senior Grounds Keeper after 25+ years working for the state.

As a lover of sports Mike enjoyed watching all sports but especially when his grand kids were playing them. He also enjoyed times at Mike Jr's cabin, swimming (where he may or may not have swam across Lake Phalan and Long Trade Lake), dinners with family at Obb's, hosting Xmas, singing The Hokey Pokey and any time spent with his family.

Mike was a very generous man who loved deeply. He will be missed by his many family members and friends but who can thankfully hold onto the many great memories he created.
