Terrance “Big T” Mathias Backus, age 66 of Vadnais Heights, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, July 1, 2019. He was born on September 3, 1952 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Glenn and Ruth Backus. He grew up in the Lauderdale area and graduated from Ramsey High School in Roseville, MN. He was a Lithographer at Midwest Printing and Gaines and Hanson Printing Company for the majority of his career. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, softball, baseball and cheering for the Twins. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a true family man and family was his number one priority. He was a selfless and genuine person, who would give the shirt off his back.

Terry is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, of 47 years; children, Alissa (Jason) Nelson, Matt (Cindy) Backus, Brianna (Eric) Oliverius; grandchildren, Avery, Branson, Eliana, Nolan, Gehrig, Quinn, and Emerson; brother, Glenn Backus Jr.; sister, Rose Backus; mother-in-law, Dorothy Roman, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Ruth Backus; father-in-law, Richard Roman, and other family members.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 8th at 2pm at Mueller Memorial-White Bear Lake, 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN 55110 with visitation 2 hours prior to the service from 12-2 pm. Interment following the service at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery in White Bear Lake.
