Donald "Don" Dean Hill passed away peacefully on December 26, 2018. He was born on November 26, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Clarence and Perna Hill. After high school graduation, Don joined the Marine Corp. He married Joyce Carol Sinclair and they celebrated 71 wedding anniversaries. Together they raised five children in Maplewood, Minnesota.
Don started his working career as a meat cutter in his father’s shop. Subsequently he delivered for Taystee Bread for 20 years, and ended his working career cutting meat, Don’s true profession.
Don and Joyce moved to Casa Grande, Arizona in 1980. Upon retirement they bought a fifth-wheel travel trailer and toured the U.S. in the summers. They held host and hostess positions in the Val Vista RV Park in the winters.
In 2014, Don and Joyce moved back to Maplewood, Minnesota to be near family. They lived independently until a recent move to an assisted living community.
Don is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Jim, granddaughter Stacy Sue MacPherson and grandson Kyle Hill.
He is survived by his brother, Gary, wife Joyce and children, Greg (Shar), Cheryl (Tim) MacPherson, Pete (Kelc), Steve, Mark (Marilyn) as well as 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Family will greet visitors from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the 11:00 a.m. celebration of life at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in North St. Paul, Minnesota on Monday, December 31, 2018. Memorials preferred to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Inurnment immediately follows the celebration of life at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3400 Century Avenue North, St. Paul, Minnesota, followed by a luncheon at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Our family would like to thank the caregivers at Lino Lakes Assisted Living and Interim Hospice for the care provided for their father.
