Susan T. Moyer, 65, passed away February 4, 2019, after a nine-year battle with ovarian cancer. She fought that disease with the same passion and exuberance that she extended to all aspects of her life.

She met her husband of 44 years, Paul E Moyer, at the University of Minnesota where they were both students. Paul was enchanted by her zest for life sprinkled with a bit of mischievous. They married in Wilton, Mn. June 14, 1975, and later welcomed two beautiful children into their world.

Sue was born in Bemidji, Mn. May 13, 1953 to Louis and Catherine Milli and was raised on Clearwater Lake, Debs, Mn. A graduate of Bemidji HS, she earned her degree from the University of Minnesota in Speech Therapy. With Paul, they resided in Norfolk Va., Duluth, Mn. St. Paul, Mn.

Sue loved helping people, building relationships and networks. The Twin Cities United Way was her most heart-felt place of employment. As Manager of Caring Connections, Sue expanded this program to over 40,000 corporate volunteers for the State of Minnesota. Sue was featured in Time Magazine for her extraordinary ability to organize and work with people. Her role as manager of cultural diversity programs at the Minneapolis Community & Technical College led her to the University of St. Thomas Graduate School of Business where she continued to expand the multicultural and workplace diversity agenda. While there, Sue also pioneered a career counseling program preparing graduate students for the corporate world. Many of her programs have been officially recognized and are used today for the St. Thomas Business Development Center. She also worked as a speech therapist to infant, preschool and special needs adults at UDAC Duluth, and worked as a consultant with Merrick, Inc.

Personally, Sue was a community activist, organizing tree recycling, park and neighborhood clean-up of Battle Creek Park. As a member of St. Pascal of Baylon, Catholic Church, St. Paul, Mn., Sue was active in hospitality, marketing, marriage preparation, and a lead in the usher ministry for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Dr. John Moyer of Duluth, Mn.

She is survived by her husband, children Evan Joseph Moyer, Center City, Mn., Katherine Moyer Tuttle (Jacob) Spokane, Wa., and her amazing grandchild Carol Hildegard Tuttle, who fueled Sus’s passion to fight her disease with vigor.

Her surviving siblings are Mary Gregg, Bemidji, Mn., Christine (Gary) Banick, Pierz, Mn., Maggie (Bob) Ward, Harrisburg, Pa., Michael (Shirley) Milli, Bemidji, Mn., Patricia Quaranto, Canton, Mi., Peter (Sue) Milli, Bemidji, Mn., Joseph (Jodi) Milli, NIsswa, Mn., Roy Milli

Additional surviving family members include mother-in-law Charlotte Moyer, Duluth, Mn., Dr. Thomas (Diane) Moyer, Golden Valley, Mn., Mary Beth (Dr. Thomas) Dougherty, Duluth, Mn., Kay (Dr. Steve) Bloom, Two Harbors, Mn., and Martha (Bob) Wagoner, Scottsdale, Az.

The family wishes to thank oncologist Dr. Melissa Geller from the University of Minnesota OBGYN department, as well as the many staff and support people who guided Sue through this journey of how to live well with cancer, including the Fairview University Team, Masonic Cancer Center, Fairview Hospice, The Pillars Home Hospice and Mueller Memorial Funeral Home.

She is gone from our sight but lives in our hearts.

Memorial Mass Saturday, February 16th at 10:30 AM at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church, 1757 Conway Street with visitation starting at 9:00 am.
